The abat E-Invoicing Monitor - the smart alternative to SAP DRC

Since January 2025, German companies in the B2B sector must be able to receive e-invoices. From 2027, sending will also gradually become mandatory. Further details on the legal requirements can be found here.

It is therefore no wonder that many companies are currently looking for suitable tools and experienced implementation partners.

With Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC), SAP offers a comprehensive solution for managing electronic documents - however, this requires a license and incurs costs depending on the number of invoices sent and received.

This can quickly become a challenge, especially for small and medium-sized companies.

Our solution: The abat E-Invoicing Cockpit

We have developed the abat E-Invoicing Cockpit - a lean solution for managing and sending electronic invoices directly from SAP - to offer companies a cost-effective alternative that is also close to the standard.

This is a "light" version of the familiar SAP eDocument cockpit. Invoices in XRechnung and ZUGFeRD formats are sent easily by email - without an additional cloud service and without a PEPPOL connection.

How our e-invoicing cockpit works

In terms of technology, our cockpit is based on the familiar SAP modules and standard customizing. This means

  • Invoices are generated from the SD module - as in the SAP standard
  • E-invoices are created automatically in the background using SAP AIF
  • Before sending, a preview of the XML file and - with ZUGFeRD - also of the PDF is possible
  • Electronic invoices are sent to the customer by e-mail using message control (also possible in the background).
  • A jump to the underlying SAP documents and the reversal of eDocuments is also integrated
  • Extensions to the XML structure (e.g. for additional fields such as EAN numbers or billing texts) are possible

SAP DRC vs. abat Cockpit - the most important differences

Compared to the SAP DRC solution, we deliberately focus on a simplified shipping process:  While SAP DRC X invoices are sent exclusively via the PEPPOL web service and ZUGFeRD invoices are sent by email, our solution always sends them by email - for both formats. This reduces complexity and license costs - without sacrificing SAP standards.
