Better to be in the middle of things than just there

A major challenge in transport management is that more and more products have to be available at the customer's site at ever shorter notice. As a result, logistical problems are becoming more complex and the challenges to order processing and also to transport logistics are increasing. A primary goal of many companies is to find an optimal balance between the complexity of distribution, the satisfaction of customer needs, and transport costs. A decision for the "right" transport management software is often of crucial importance. After all, all company processes must mesh seamlessly with data captured in real time and relevant information presented transparently.

Until now, the SAP TM transport management solution was only made available on the basis of the SAP SCM Platform. With the S/4HANA 1709 release, it was integrated into the SAP S/4HANA overall solution. Under the term SAP S/4HANA Supply Chain for Transportation Management (SAP S/4HANA TM), it is part of the SAP S/4HANA Supply Chain solution. A key advantage of this integration is the elimination of interface monitoring, since SAP S/4HANA and SAP TM access the same master and transaction data and therefore transfer and reconciliation are no longer necessary. Furthermore, the functionalities of SAP LE-TRA have been replaced by corresponding functions of SAP TM.

And since SAP has already announced an end to the rights of use for SAP LE-TRA on December 31, 2025, companies that use this module should consider replacing SAP LE-TRA with SAP TM in the short term. SAP offers two integration scenarios for replacing SAP LE-TRA in the TM environment.

Basic Shipping enables the holistic mapping of all SAP LE-TRA processes in SAP TM and is not licensed additionally.
Professional Shipping offers the full functionality of the current SAP TM solution and is additionally licensed. (Limited to the current SAP S/4HANA TM release).

How abat supports you in the implementation of Embedded SAP TM

SAP has provided various deployment options for integrating transportation processing into an existing system landscape. If - perhaps only temporarily - no SAP S/4HANA TM use is planned, an SAP TM can be implemented on the SAP SCM Platform. This solution, both in combination with an SAP ERP and an SAP S/4HANA, can be operated beyond 2025. An SAP LE-TRA used in the SAP ERP will also be replaced by SAP TM processes in this case. The advantage here is that objects already used in SAP S/4HANA TM can be used. Another option is the parallel use of SAP LE-TRA and SAP S/4HANA TM and a subsequent, step-by-step replacement of the SAP LE-TRA processes. Either way, from 2026 onwards, only the SAP S/4HANA TM or the SAP TM Business Suite solution can be used. Which integration variant is suitable by then depends on various factors that must be examined as part of an initial analysis.
